I totally get that glazed-over eyes look you mention. I used to get that a lot when I told people I was a Virtual Assistant. I have just completed the Hot Skills ecommerce course and I am in the process of "putting it all together". When I tell people I am becoming a certified OBM their eyes usually light up with interest. Maybe it is the excitement they see in me that intrigues them. I enjoyed your article and agree on the importance of integrity and being comfortable in your own skin.

I am new to Twitter and have been following a few folks writing about topics of interest to me. I saw your comment about my mindmapping comment on Chris Brogan's site and I course I had to follow your link.

As a visual learner, I first heard about mindmapping at a seminar about 20 years ago. I even bought Tony Buzan's The Mindmap Book. I am a Mac user since '85 so I gravitated to OmniGraffle for computer mindmapping. My hobby is trying new productivity stuff so now I am playing around with XMind, an open source software which I like even better. I look forward to reading more of your posts.

Thank you for the post, Carrie, and Happy New Year :) I love your analogy that social media is the feminine side of direct marketing.

You just gained a reader and Twitter follower :).

Hi! thanks for the post!. It's always good to see how others are using Twitter, and what they're doing different to me, if anything.

I found your site because of Chris Brogan's 'No Comment' post.

Thanks to Chris you found a subscriber and follower :)

Excellent writing - keep up the good work.

Hi Carrie,

What a great concept to share. So often people have no clue about what is possible online. Just like our Hot Skills class they dont know what they dont know. Have you tried Mindmeister? It is a web based mind map that you can use to collaberate with others.

Thanks Christy, I imagine she was a bit surprised because I re-did the whole thing this past weekend so it is currently a bit topsy-turvy and lacking in substance at the moment. With that all said, I'm pleased you like it :)

Hi Carrie - this is Ariel - a fellow Hot Skills Trainee. This looks great so far, and I thought I'd tell you so! I too was at FoVA and had a great time. I'm certain our paths crossed there. Anyway, keep up the great work. "See" you soon!
